The New York Persian Parade Foundation today confirmed plans for the 13th Annual Persian Parade.
New York, NY (March 15, 2016) - The New York Persian Parade Foundation today confirmed plans for the 13th Annual Persian Parade. The parade, which runs down famed Madison Avenue in Manhattan, will start at 11:30am on Sunday, April 17th 2016 at 38th Street and end at 26th street, culminating in a street fair next to Madison Square Park.
The Persian Parade is an inclusive, family friendly event celebrating the culture, traditions, and contributions Persians have made to the American community, and is dedicated to all Iranian Americans and peoples of Persian descent across the globe. In recent years the New York parade has grown to become the largest single parade in the United States honoring Persian culture.
The parade will feature celebrations from Ancient Persia’s large and richly diverse diaspora. The Parade is timed in the calendar to bring our community together during the distinctly Persian celebration of Norooz, which literally means "new day" and is the New Year celebration to millions of Persians worldwide. It coincides with the arrival of the first day of Spring.
Cheering crowds of hundreds of thousands of Iranian Americans, New Yorkers, and tourists from around the world are expected to line the sides of Madison Avenue.
The parade procession will feature a large number of both traditional Persian and American musical acts, regional dance ensembles, cultural flags, a wide array of creative floats, performers, and dignitaries, representing an unparalleled display of Persian American pride and creativity.
The parade will be broadcast to Iranians across the globe on several Iranian language satellite TV stations.
